Concessions and PPPs

Object of bidding, the full concession contracts transfer to the contracted party the entire operation and maintenance of the water supply and sanitary sewage system, and the responsibility to carry out the necessary investments for a certain period, during which the concessionaire will be remunerated through the charging fees to users.

The government defines rules on the quality of services and the composition of tariffs. In general, these contracts have a duration of 20 to 30 years.

In the full concession, the assets do not cease to belong to the government, but remain under the responsibility of the private company until the end of the concession period.

PPPs include those concessions in which there is a contribution of resources by the public administration, either in addition to the tariff paid by the user (sponsored concession), or due to the fact that the services are provided, directly or indirectly, to the public power ( administrative concession).
